In this article we will discuss how to differentiate between several models of E-Z-GO golf carts.
E-Z-GO Models
Marathon (1984 – 1994.5)
Features:
- Two seat backs
- Metal body
- Front, black plastic bumper
- Top without handles
- Ignition key by Forward/Reverse handle
The serial number and manufacturer’s code can be found on a plate located under the glove box on the passenger side of the vehicle. The serial number is either six or seven numbers and does not indicate the model year. The manufacturer’s code will have one letter and three or four numbers (the last two number indicate the year of the cart).
Medalist (1994.5 – 1999)
Features:
- Single seat back
- Metal body
- Front black plastic bumper
- Top with handles
- Ignition key on dash
- Forward/Reverse by seat
TXT (1994.5 – present)
Features:
- Single seat back
- Plastic body
- Top with handles
- Ignition key on dash
- Forward/Reverse handle by seat (Series and DCS models)
- Forward/Reverse rocker switch on dash (PDS models)

RXV (2008 – present)
Features:
- Single seat back
- Plastic body
- Top with handles
- Ignition key on dash (with Forward/Reverse on electric models)
Electric models feature:
- AC Drive system
Gas models feature:
- Fuji rear axle
- Kawasaki engine
TXT Redesign/ T48 (2014 – present)
Features:
- Completely redesigned body style
- Uses 1″ front struts versus 3/4″ found in the previous generation TXT line
- Electric models feature: 48 volt battery system
